Reflection 

1. I learn from the texts I read that America is not change everybody, but it just like a salad bowl, makes everyone becomes more adaptable and can fit in different culture. Everyone should be more tolerant to others. We are in a connected world, we should respect every culture and not to disturb them.  

2. My aha moment was that at one time Gitte was explaining the meaning of the word: ethnocentrism. Gitte didn’t use other difficult words to explain the meaning of it, instead, Gitte just use some example and some metaphors to describe it, which makes the word easier to understand. Gitte said ethnocentrism means someone thinks their culture is better than others. And she use her body language which makes me understand the word more quickly. 

 

3. Culture makes up the colorful world. 

     4.   I didn’t know why when you sneeze, people around you would said: God bless you. Now I understand: people here think that when you sneeze your soul would go out of your body, so people would bless you. After I know this, I finally know what people were saying when I sneezed. And I would say thank you to them when they bless me. I think that very warm-hearted. Even strangers would bless to you, and hope your soul could be peace. That make me more comfortable to live here.
