REFLECTION 3 

At unit 3, we learned a lot about movie. I think it is the most interesting unit by now. I love watching movies. Because there are many kinds of movies that can satisfy your different requirement. And at this unit I learned the genre of movies. Some that I never heard before, for example: the cult films. Also I learned the definition of different kinds of movies exactly. For example, the drama is serious, and realistic characters, and not focus on special-effects, comedy or action. The reading why we crave horror movie, I think this essay is useful and interesting. It used some jokes as examples to make us understand sick joke better. I didn’t why the people watch horror movies, because I don’t like watching them. That’s disgusting I think... Now I am more understanding of those people, they watch horror movies because everyone is mentally ill, many years ago, white people hunted black people while other white people watch and have fun. Those emotion still inside our body, we need to release these emotions without hurting others so we create horror movies. 

 

During we learned the history of cinema, we saw a lot of video, especially the animation, at first, I didn’t understand why the person’s hand just disappeared, I though it used special-effects. But at that time there wasn’t special-effect. Then, teacher told us, this animation contained many pieces of photo, and made the photos played very quickly, then it became animation. This an Aha point. And I also learned when the first movie has a scene that a train came toward to people, all the people ran away. At first, I thought that was ridiculous. Then I thought of that what if I saw E.T, I might scared to death.  people always feel scared of the things that unknow. So I think we should respect everyone, give them helps to know more about new things instead of laughing at them. In the same emotion, when I first came to America, I hoped I can meet someone that can help me fit in here soon, instead of laughing at me. And I learned movies progress most quickly is in 19th. And 1930s is golden age of movie, color films was invented. And in 1960s, there was a social change, it happened financial struggle. And in 1970s, special effects were invented. Also I learned something about Oscars. I didn’t know that the Oscars are not allowed to sell before. 

 

In this unit also required us to create a poster. In this homework I was very lucky to get my own Oscars. And I am thankful with Meriem, she gave the Oscars to me. By doing a movie poster by myself and after watching other classmates’ poster, I learned a movie poster needs what basic information. Firstly, we need a movie name of course, and it must be placed in the most outstanding place. Then choose a picture that fit in your movie’s context. Also, we need the actors’ name and the director’s name. Also we need to put the show time on it, in order to let people to know when it will show on and not to miss your movie. If there more space, you can also write some key words about your movie’s main idea. For example: friendship, family lover and so on. 

About the crossword puzzle, I totally didn’t understand what it is and how to do it, and I watch the web side, I still didn’t understand... then I asked my classmates to find out what it is. But!! That's really difficult to do! But it really improved my vocabulary.  

And the film festival, I watched a movie called instinct. The meaning of the movie I was not very clear. But I think the director may want to tell us that the complexity of human nature. Also we need to write a movie review. It can help us to think more and through the movie review, I look over the movie, and I search some information about the movie and the director to better understand this movie. 

At last, in this unit I learned I lot that I may never learned it specially. So I am glad I can learned something about movie systematically.
